Indiana County Tourist Bureau joins hundreds of cities, states and travel-related businesses nationwide in recognition of National Tourism Week, held May 9-13. Designated by Congress and established by presidential proclamation in 1983, the event highlights the value and impact of the nation’s travel industry and the economic and social contributions it brings to not only the United States but Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
“Hotels and meeting facilities, attractions, restaurants and transportation providers are among the local businesses greatly impacted by travel to Indiana County,” said Penny Perman, Executive Director of the Indiana County Tourist Bureau. “This industry provides employment, generates revenue for our county and touches our community in countless other ways. In Indiana County, this week celebrates the people who visit here, the workforce that provides service for them and the development created as a result of visitors.”
The Tourism Promotion Agencies of the 67 counties of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania represent Pennsylvanians throughout the hospitality industry, from service professionals to executives, whose work and livelihood is dependent upon tourism.
