Indiana County Tourist Bureau
and Indiana County Christmas Tree Growers Association
announce “Christmas in July” at Idlewild and Soak Zone in Ligonier, PA
INDIANA - The Indiana County Tourist Bureau and Indiana County Christmas Tree Growers Association announce that July 25-29 will be “Christmas in July” at Idlewild and Soak Zone in Ligonier, PA.
In addition to the fantastic rides, games and shows that the park has to offer, the week will include many activities relating to Indiana County’s reign as “The Christmas Tree Capital of the World.” Activities for the week include: a Parade of Trees, holiday decorations and even a special warm-weather visit from Santa Claus himself. The theme is a “Story Book Forest Christmas in July” with all of the activities taking place near and throughout the Story Book Forest section of the park.
Keeping with tradition will be the annual Parade of Trees. Approximately 25 trees will be donated by the Indiana County Christmas Tree Growers Association for various Indiana County organizations, businesses, clubs and members of the Tree Growers Association to decorate. These themed trees will be voted on by visitors to the Parade of Trees Pavilion and upon casting their favorite tree vote they will be entered to win a bicycle courtesy of Idlewild Park. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 favorite trees and presented to the group or organization that decorated the winning trees. In addition to the Parade of Trees, the Indiana County Tourist Bureau will have a county informational booth set up throughout the week.
Indiana County Day
Friday, July 29th, is Indiana County Day! Gather up the family, pack a picnic and join in the fun. An Indiana County giveaway item will be given to the first 500 Parade of Trees visitors, awards for Parade of Trees contest winners will be presented and the winner of the Bicycle drawing will be announced. In addition, throughout the day, gift certificates, donated by businesses and organizations from Indiana County, will be given away.
“This is a fantastic opportunity not only for Indiana County’s residents to enjoy Idlewild Park; but also a chance for others to see what a great place Indiana County is to work, live and visit,” says Tourist Bureau Executive Director Penny Perman.
”This is the eighth year for this event and Idlewild is very excited about hosting Christmas in July,” says Kathy Sichula, Director of Group Sales for Idlewild and Soak Zone. “The week will provide loads of fun for the whole family and Christmas displays will transform Story Book Forest into scenes of a winter wonderland.”
